Joe & Kyle came to us looking for a fresh look to take their show to the next level while keeping the love of the PlayStation ecosystem at the forefront. Together we created a brand system that pays deep homage to the history of PlayStation while feeling fun, professional and unique in the podcast space.
Playstation has a distinct and memorable catalogue of hardware and software designs, so when we brought up the idea of paying tribute to all the hardware designs of Playstation’s past – Joe & Kyle were excited. Custom illustrated trophies drawn in vivid detail each feature a single generation of Playstation controller, with a trophy stem that references its matching console box. A fresh take on the PS trophy system while still being instantly recognizable.
To continue the PlayStation reference party, we pulled references from the Golden Age of Sony’s product design catalogue – the 80s/90s. During this era, PlayStation pumped out banger after banger of logotype gold. We distilled all that style into a single uniform style for the Trophy Room wordmark. Paired with the trophies, it feels distinctly PlayStation, with enough unique character to stand out from the pack.
To tie it all together, we worked with the team on a new intro sequence referencing the PS5 boot screen. It’s super fun and does a great job of introducing all the branding elements – check it out below!
