Ella’s is a restaurant owned a lovely Jamaican couple in our studios hometown of Cranbrook, BC. Ella’s specializes in curating an authentic Jamaican experience, from the food, to the drinks, to the music, the Ella’s team strives to bring “A Real Jamaican Vibe” to our little mountain town in Western Canada.

Ella’s owners, Aleitha and Ro, came to us looking for a fresh look for Ella’s, one that would last the test of time, and one that allowed them to tell their story to it’s best. Our solution is a brand kit bursting with personality and character, and saturated with Rastafarian colours.

BREATHING LIFE INTO ELLA

Since Ella’s inception, Aleitha and Ro had been building the character of Ella. A confident, charming, embodyment of sultry lady-power and fun jamaican spirit. While bringing her to life was no easy task – we are so proud of what we landed on. A mascot that shouts the brand story from the rooftops. Pair it with the custom typography (inspired by Jamaican hand-painted road signs) and the sandy rastafarian colour palette – oof, chef’s kiss.

VISUAL STORYTELLING

Every time we talked with Aleitha and Ro, they had so many touchstones about their upbringing and home in Jamaica – it was a goldmine of inspiration and visual fuel. Below you’ll find a few supporting illustrations inspired by these conversations. Jamaican road signs, Marley & the Whaler’s inspired instruments, “Red Stripe” bottles, big ol’ barrels of rum, these pieces take the kit to a whole new level.
