Taynton Bay is a craft distillery nestled into the tiny lake town of Invermere, BC. While their hometown may be small, the punch of their products definitely isn’t. With award-winning high-proof spirits and Dragon’s Den selected tea-infused vodka cocktails, their product lineup is taking the industry by storm, transforming ordinary cocktails into flavour adventures that their customers can’t get enough of.
The team at Taynton Bay came to us looking for a fresh look that told their unique story authentically and excitingly while also giving their products the visual prowess that the flavours deserve. Together we built a brand kit that showcases a pursuit of adventure, the joy of making the most of every moment, and how their products Unlock the Wild Spirit in all of us.
THE VALLEY CRITTER
We designed the Valley Critter as a visual embodiment of the ‘Wild Spirit’ on which the brand is built. A physical representation of whimsical adventure, the joy of discovery, and a nod to the valleys and mountainscapes surrounding Taynton Bay’s lakeside distilling facility.
Right side up, the critter is in motion, chasing that next adventure. Flip the critter, and a mountain valley landscape is revealed – showing the vast opportunity for adventure found all around us. Together, the mark provides a lovely balance of hand-drawn imperfection and satisfying symmetry.
To make the brand kit flexible, we designed a suite of contextual alternates and secondary marks, utilizing the brand’s fully custom typeface – and interjecting some hand-drawn “lake-style” script to ensure the brand has a warm and cozy feel.

A playful and cheeky illustration system builds the brand story with visual cues to lake life, the pursuit of adventure, and Unlocking Wild Spirit.

Originally referred to as “Taynton Teas,” – Wild Cocktails are ready-to-drink cocktails infused with premium tea and fresh fruit. Delicious over ice or combined with your favourite mixer – Wild Cocktails are a super flexible ingredient in any cocktail enthusiast’s toolkit. And take our word for it, they’re really tasty 😉
While the flavour of these products was unanimously loved, the team struggled to convey what they were for when customers had yet to taste them. Often confused with high-proof flavoured Vodkas, they needed a solution that better explained the product.
